Step #2: Community

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful,
committed people can change the world.
Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

- Margaret Mead

Go outside.  Talk to your neighbors, join local groups/clubs, and love the strangers you pass by.  Smile, hug, acknowledge, and compliment.  :)  For a three-minute reminder of what love really is, visit http://www.TheLoveMovie.com or watch this great 15-minute short-film called VALIDATION.

When in line or waiting on the bus, instead of listening to your iPod, talk to the person next to you.  Reconnect with distant family.  Call friends you haven't seen in a long time.  International calling is free with Skype.

Guide conversations to topics of consciousness, transformation, love, and humanity. Do it live with people, and do it in on-line discussions with organizations like Global Mind Shift.

Forward this information, share it on social networking sites like Twitter, rank it on social bookmarking sites like StumbleUpon, and keep the conversation alive.  Many people simply don’t have the conversation because they are afraid of the unknown.  You are a pioneer, and your initiative will comfort them -- knowing they are not alone.

(Pssst... You could even deliberately speak loudly in public spaces so strangers and on-lookers can hear your conversations about transforming humanity.)

Your family and close friends get tons of e-mails just like we all do. Make the effort to physically sit down with them, and watch the three introductory videos.  It's great time spent together (rather than just the usual sit-com/news), and it can develop into hours of fascinating discoveries about each other's point-of-view.

Please don’t sit back hoping other people are going to do something instead of you.  We’re competing with mass media conditioning, and we need you -- each and every one of you -- on this humanitarian mission.

Host movie screenings at your house.  It's a great excuse reason to invite people from the neighborhood you do not know, connect with them, and at least discuss world affairs.  We're not out to make money here; we are out to change the system.  Every producer of these movies has spent thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars of their own money to awaken humanity.  We want you to copy them, distribute them, and freely share with everyone you know.

Gandhi said, "We must be the change we wish to see in the world."  That's why personal development, and being immersed in communities of people who are committed to their personal growth, is essential.  A great free place to start is on-line with The HUB eAcademy, SelfGrowth.com, and subscribe to our blog at http://ordinarysparks.blogspot.com).  The best community of personal development we recommend is The Landmark Forum (available in 21 countries worldwide).

Dr. Stephen Covey, Dr. Bernie Siegel, Dr. Deepak Chopra, and Marianne Williamson star in a 60-minute documentary about personal and spiritual development, and the meaning of life.  You can watch, "QUEST for LIFE, Volume I: Discovering Your Human Potential", the entire video, for FREE.

For a fascinating history of the human potential movement, watch BBC's The Century of Self, Part 3, which also includes information about Werner Erhard and EST Training.

Me To We (Mob)ilizers actively hold campaigns, local city events and generally inspire the masses about the real issues: Poverty. Education. Injustice. Apathy.  We are idealistic, we are dedicated and we are dynamic. We are the change we want to see in our world.

The Burning Man community creates social environments that are unmediated by commercial sponsorships, transactions, or advertising.  They stand ready to protect this culture from such exploitation.  They resist the substitution of consumption for participatory experience.

Burning Man is also an annual art event and temporary community based on radical self expression and self-reliance in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada.  They have local chapters all over the world which provide a nourishing community.

Harvest Festival is an annual autumn festival dedicated to self-expression and community.  The festival is a place of choice and action, a place to share in the communal vibe inspired by music, friends and natural beauty.  It’s a place where we gather to create, experience and discover.  Find a Harvest Festival in your area.

Participate in the message board of the OM Reunion Project which provides an inspirational and educational community retreat.

Exopolitics is a group of international, not-for-profit educational organization dedicated to inform and fully disclose facts about UFOs, extraterrestrial visitations, and classified advanced energy and propulsion systems.  We work closely with other ufological, disclosure & exopolitical based organizations and individuals around the planet, towards one purpose: the end of the truth embargo surrounding UFO's.  It is time for us all to rightfully know that we do not live in isolation, but live in a fully populated universe. We need to know this so that we can make appropriate decisions for the continued survival and dignity of Earth and it's citizens.

If you like to travel, you'll love MindMyHouse – a global house sitting matching service. We provide all the online tools for home owners and house sitters to find each other from around the globe (or around the corner). Our house sitters provide their pet and house sitting services for free in exchange for the privilege of accommodation in the owner's home.

Don't lose the human touchSend out physical cards to keep in touch with people, and see what a difference it makes!

It's also important to nourish a spiritual connection.  Religious people are afraid of hell, spiritual people have already been through it.  Religions, however, do understand something about community.  A spiritual person in isolation is like a contradiction.  A very modernized organization I sometimes attend is called The Meeting House.  They use clips from movies (like The Matrix) and modern culture to deliver spiritual teachings in a relaxed style.  Their motto is: "A Church for people who aren't into Church."

"Sometimes what we most need to learn,
we do not even know we need to learn.
That is the huge benefit of a Mentor."
- Raymond Aaron

Youth Programs

Whitney Houston is known for singing, "I believe the children are our future."  That being the case, this can be considered the most important section.

Future Possibilities is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that delivers life skills coaching programs to children.  At no cost to the family, each child in our program is provided a trained, volunteer "Kidcoach." Through one-on-one coaching sessions and group workshops, the "Kidcoach" serves as a positive role model, develops a personal coaching relationship with the child, and guides the child to define, plan, and achieve a goal of contribution.

If you are a teenager, take advantage of this time.  Travel the world and learn from different cultures and lifestyles.  Educational and governmental programs are ideal to save you significant money, and give you an authentic experience (as opposed to am Americanized visit).
